Default What is the best new car under $20,000?

Im looking for a good new car that costs less than 20,000 dollars. the car must have good resale price, good gas milage, safe and everything else. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what kind of car that might be?

i will start with a list of cars that would fall into the category under 20,000 dollars. Since you stated under "20,000", that probably means your planing on spending around there, so we will stick to cars around the 20,000 dollar mark.

Chevrolet Malibu 4 cyl
Ford Fusion 4 cyl
Honda Accord 4 cyl
Honda Civic
Kia Optima
Mazda3
Mazda6 4 cyl
Mitsubishi Galant 4-cyl
Nissan Altima 4 cyl
Pontiac G6 4 cyl
Saturn Aura
Subaru Impreza
Toyota Camry 4 cyl
Volkswagen Jetta

As you can see based on the consumer reports of these selected cars, the honda civic, honda accord and toyota camry seem to be doing the best. But, its up to you what you get, just whatever you get, make sure its something nice and that it will last you for a while.

Good luck on your next vehicle!

Very interesting. I have always been a fan of toyotas and hondas, even though i would prefer toyota over honda cuz they ride a little better and acura/honda is behind the competition, always was and probably always will be.

Than theres domestic vehicles, i dont want to sound like all i care about is toyotas and hondas, im always willing to give the domestics a chance, but they always fail. It would only seem natural for the amercian car companies to produce something of good quality for us to be proud of, but they are getting cheaper and cheaper.

At one point in 2008, when the economy was really bad, BMWs were selling like crazy, i mean, they were hitting record sales. Oh yea, almost forgot to mention that BMWs arent cheap. So why were they still selling? Quality. Quality sells, no matter what it is, if its good, it will sell. The other thing is, americans arent as dumb as we all think we are, we pay alot of money to buy something nice, and yes, that includes nice cars. The domestic auto companies should take advantage of us by selling us nicer cars at higher prices. Anyone would rather buy something that was made at home than accross in germany... I dont know if that time will ever come, but lets just hope for it.
